Hare Ram (2008)
Producer: Nandamuri Kalyanram
Director: Harshavardhan
Music Director: Mickey J. Meyer
Audio Rights: Swati Audios
Lyrics: sirivennela Seetarama Sastry
Playback: Ranjith & Sunitha Sarathy (1); Karthik (2); Harish Raghavendra & Kalyani (3); Mickey J. Meyer (4); Karthik & Harini (5); Balaji, Vasu & Srinivas (6)
Rating: 3.5/5
Summary:
Mickey J. Meyer seemed to have moved away from his usual style but only transforms himself in his own style, with better percussion and beat all over the place. Seetarama Sastry's lyrics are quite different from his usual style, but his pen power and command over languages can be clearly felt in the lyrics. Nearly all songs seem situationally significant and thus the run of the movie might influence the audio still more.

paDadaam, lEddaam, paDutU lEstU pOdaam! (nashaa)... (Duration: 4:03 minutes) (Rating: 3.25/5) |
|
Playback: Sunitha Sarathy has the right modulation for this number that urges one to move on. Ranjith has an enthusiastic modulation too. |
Lyric: This number seems to mark a song "on the go". The language used is a liberal mix of English and Hindi too. |
|
Tune/Interlude/BGM: The tune reminds of the Hindi number mErE khwaabOn mein tU... (Gupt) at places, but carries the energy that the lyric brings in. The beat is racy, the orchestration is multitudinous and thus brings in the mood of the song better. The interludes add to the effect. |
|
sarigaa paDanii ipuDE toli aDugu!... (Duration: 5:04 minutes) (Rating: 4.0/5) |
|
Playback: Karthik sings with a confident voice that reflects the
inspirational nature of this number.
|
Lyric: An inspiring lyric from the veteran. "chandruLLO macchallE anipinchE EdO lOpam kundElai andamgaa kanabaDadaa neelO navvE kshaNaalalO" tells the value of maintaining a cheerful countenance. "kailaasam Sirasonchi nee edalO odigE varaku chalO chalO" emphasizes on achieving the goal. |
|
Tune/Interlude/BGM: The orchestra is distinct and impressive. The beat is good too. The tune catches up within a few hearings. |
|
pyaar karnaa seekhO na!... (Duration: 4:44 minutes) (Rating: 3.25/5) |
|
Playback: Harish Raghavendra presents a smooth rendition, gliding through high and low pitches. Kalyani has a little high-pitched voice that's not shrill; her low-pitched voice is melodious. |
Lyric: The lyric for this simple duet of playful banter between the lead pair has an appreciable rhyme right from the very first lines of the song, a juggling of Hindi and Telugu words. The whole song has alliteration and word play that moves between the two languages easily! |
|
Tune/Interlude/BGM: The tune lacks freshness and the lead stanza reminds other songs including maha muddocchEstunnaavOi! (Jai Chiranjeeva!). The rest of stanzas too suffer from similar issues. |
|
inkonchem freedom icchEsukundaam! (jai raam, jai raam!)... (Duration: 3:33 minutes) (Rating: 4.0/5) |
|
Playback: Mickey J. Meyer croons this song himself. The pronunciation is sometimes out of place but then the tune and the style of the song might have caused some of this effect too. "ta" and "da" are sometimes pronounced as "Ta" and "Da". |
Lyric: The veteran comes up with a lyric that leaves one wondering how anyone can even comprehend the tune and come up with such a meaningful lyric! What is notable is that the lyric is nearly all in Telugu, emphasizing Seetarama Sastry's command over the language. The theme of the lyric represent a youthful, carefree attitude of a love pair that boldly says "janamanTE artham mana janTE andaam! evarU lErandaam, unnaa aTu chooDam!". Expressions such as "kaakullaagaa kavvistE care a pin andaam!", "sye annaaraa, saradaagaa sangati chebutunnaam! kaadannaaraa, que sera sera anukunTaam!" are examples of the ease shown in penning the lyrics. |
|
Tune/Interlude/BGM: The rap-style song has a tune that can catches up with the first hearing itself! The strings in the interlude are impressive. The BGM gives an apt base for the song. The beat reminds of Shankar Mahadevan's famous Breathless a bit. Listen to it a couple times, and you chant jai raam, jai raam... along with it! Listen more, and you can even enjoy the lyrics. |
laali jO, laali jO, leelagaa laalistaagaa!... (Duration: 4:39 minutes) (Rating: 3.5/5)
>
Playback: Karthik modulates his voice softer in parts of the song. Harini is her usual melodious self in the little bit that she joins her voice for.
|
Lyric: The song seems to be a comforting number by the male lead to pacify his female companion. What expression can be simpler than "Em kaalEdanukOnii, vadilEsi veLipOnii aaraaTaanni!" The lyric also incorporates good rhyme.
>>
Tune/Interlude/BGM: If this is intended to be a lullaby of some kind, the beat seems a bit intruding. The tune can catch up upon repeated hearing.

Theme music (Duration: 2:43 minutes) (Rating: 3.75/5) |
|
Playback: All the three singers pour in life that enriches the intense theme music. |
Lyric: There's not much lyric in this music-oriented track that needs to be commented upon. |
|
Tune/Interlude/BGM: The orchestration seems very different from Mickey J. Meyer's usual style, but one can make out upon careful listening that it is actually a combination of orchestra that he used in his previous albums, particularly reminding of certain intense numbers of his debut film Pothe Ponii. Of course, there's a lot of clever arrangement of all the percussion instrumentation, from the traditional morsing to modern drums. |
