P.N. Ramachandra Rao speaks...
This is the first film I worked for a director other than P. Chandrasekhar Reddy gaaru. Kommineni did not have any prior experience as a director. Muralimohan, Giribabu, and Kommineni were good friends, and with Giribabu and Muralimohan both established well enough in the field, they wanted to help their friend too, and thus started this project. As I was with P.C. Reddy gaaru for seven years and was ready to start direction sooner than later, I joined the film as an associate director, when they promised their next movie for my directorial debut. When the film was later remade in Tamil by Sripriya, the heroine of movies such as Vayasu Pilichindi and Chilakamma Cheppindi, it was only a moderate fare there. This film marked the first black and white Cinemascope in South India. Though Muralimohan was a partner in the project, he played only a guest character.
Tail piece: There was a rumor that snakes used to come to theatres. Thus, audience used to sit cross-legged in their seats!
