Roja Ramani speaks...
If I look back at the films that I did, three films seem to be standing out -
Bhakta Prahlada,
Chambarati (Malayalam original for
Kanne Vayasu) and
O Seeta Katha. All these three films earned me awards and a lot of name. When Viswanath
gaaru narrated the story to me, I was not ready to do the role as I was scared. ...I was only sixteen then and never wore a saree before, so I was not sure if I can do the role of a girl who not only wears sarees but also behaves like an elderly manner. It was Viswanth
gaaru who convinced me and we did a photo shoot with me in a saree and donned with all the ornaments. When we were satisfied with the results of the photo shoot part, I agreed to do the film.
Other things I remember about this film are that they had a special screening for this film only for heriones in the film industry. Nearly every herione attended the screening and appreciated my performance. Another thing I remember is that I did not know that the film had another producer (Aswini Dutt) until the film completed a 50-day run! The 50 days function was done in Vijayawada, and Aswini Dutt, who hails from Vijayawada, invited us to his house and that was when I got to know that he is also one of the two producers for the film! It was Sarma
gaaru who looked after the film's production while the film was in making, and that was the reason I didn't know this fact earlier!
Aswini Dutt speaks...
I was hardly nineteen when I started this film! From the childhood, I was more fasinated with movies, but as I was too young, my father was not ready to invest money on my fascination! My father's business partner, A.R.S. Sarma, was interested in dramas and was also a good friend of K. Viswanath. My father was ready to produce the film under the condition that A.R.S. Sarma has to look after it. So, I pursued the idea with him and he finally agreed to do it. ...This is the first film for Veturi Sundararamamurthy
gaaru.
Veturi
gaaru and I travelled in the same bus to Madras for this film. ...The film was a good sucess, which made me approach NTR to do a film. It was NTR who named my banner as Vyjayanthi Films.
