Gollapudi Maruthi Rao speaks...

It is A.R.S. Sarma gaaru who made the film possible! He is a close friend of Viswanath. The film gave the much required break to Chandramohan and Roja Ramani, and to Veturi Sundararamamurthy who debuted with this film. After seeing the film, K. Balachander was very impressed and took the rights of the film. Balachander actually want to make my drama Kallu as film, but at the same time, Bharati Raja made a love story that runs arouns blind people. He thus dropped the idea and got the rights of this film and remade into Tamil as Moondru Mudichu (meaning "The Three Knots") with Kamal doing the role of Chandramohan, and Rajinikanth doing the role of Devadas Kanakala, and Sridevi in the role of Roja Ramani.

(K. Balachander made a lot of changes in the first half such as Kamal and Rajini were roomates and that Rajini knows that Kamal loves Sridevi, but still has an eye on her. When three of them goes for boat ride, Kamal falls in the water by accident and Rajini does not rescue him lying that he does not know swimming. The second half is somewhat similar to the original). The Tamil version was also a big hit and ran 100 days in Midland theatre in Chennai.
