What’s it about!
A film unit led by a hero (Gautaam Rode) and a heroine (Priyanka Kotari) leaves for a deep forest for a film shooting. An assistant director (Nitin) loves the heroine but doesn’t express his feelings. After a two days shoot in the forest, camera conks off, so the unit goes for ‘excursion’. Soon an unknown ‘entity’ kills one by one. Who is behind them? That is what Adavi all about.
Analysis
Adavi is a big joke. It is shame that a maverick filmmaker like Ram Gopal Varma dishes out TV serial kind of flick. Oh, Sorry, these days TV soap operas are far better than this Adavi. There is no story, no premise. Looks like Ram Gopal Varma just went to jungle with his team and started playing with his cameraman. Varma’s fetish with weird camera angles, gimmickry sounds have become routine in his each film. Adavi has nothing but these. It is basically a rip-off of films like Predator (1987) and Blair Witch Project (2003).
Performances
Run, Run, Run ..that is what all the actors in the movie do and mouth corniest dialogues that one can hear. As there is no story, they just gave some shocking expressions and running around trees (no pun intended). Priyanka Kothari bares all in songs and gives decent expressions this time. Nitin plays the role of assistant director but he behaves like a director, while the movie’s director plays with pencil. The film is shot entirely in Sri Lanka. Except in the climax, the forest is not used properly. Cinematography by Surjodeep Ghosh is top rate. He is the only technician or artiste who deserves praise in this shoddy film.
Bottom-line!
A careless film by Ram Gopal Varma. Not a single scene is worth talking about. Adavi is big bore and very shoddy flick. Iss Jungle se Mujhe Bachao .. this line sums up the movie.
TC Rating: 1/5
Note: Vamsi made Anumanaspadam with similar theme much better way.
