What’s it about?

It is tale of youngsters and their love and dilemmas in life. Ankit (Nikhil) aspires to become music director but fails to get a break. On other hand his girlfriend Pallavi (Megha Burman) gets job in a software company and she asks him to look beyond music and settle in life. Ankit is passionate about music and refuses to sacrifice his goal for 9 to 5 job to lead more settled life. This creates rift between the lovers. On other hand, his group of friends have different goals and love stories. The film ends with Ankit and Pallavi finally realizing their true love.

Analysis!

Ankit Pallavi Friends is yet another run of the mill love story that deals about conflict between two lovers. The script is too simplistic and the narration lacks any novelty. Except some good songs and pleasant cinematography, the movie fails to sustain the audiences’ interest till the end. The biggest problem with movie is that the new director’s handling of it is very amateurish and is very slow paced. Predictability is another lacuna. First half is better than the second half, though.

Performances

Nikhil who impressed audiences in Happy Days fails as lead actor. He has limited expressions and his performance is inconsistent - sometimes he goes overboard and most of the time comes with similar expressions. Megha Burman lacks glamour and she is just an okay as per acting skills are concerned. Romance between them and the conflict is not shot well. Seetha’s character and Naresh’s relationship with his son Pingpong are enough to tell how amateurish the movie is. Cinematography by Dasari Malini is pleasant. Choosing some unexplored locations in Hyderabad gives the movie rich look. The new director Hari Yelleti should be commanded for this only. Two songs by Vinu Thomas are good.

Bottom-line!

Ankit Pallavi Friends is neither youthful entertainer. Nor it brings any freshness on to the screen. Very run-of-the mill love story!

Rating: 2.75/5
