Today i saw this movie at satyam on first show at 12 noon, The movie is totally disappointing to be frank it is just another sainikudu for Prince.

Some scenes are good but lack of comedy and romance is the black mark of the movie.

Large number of tamil fans are there for Mahesh after Pokiri running for 100 days over here. He lost all of them by these 2 movies like sainikudu and adthidi.

Today i wasted my money and valuable time for these movie

In my opinion, TC never had its own standards to comment a movie. Always they keep commenting about some aspects of the movie as if they are the genius of movie productions. This is funny, I think TC should give some room to audience and their responses and comment about the reality rather an feeling as if they are the godfather of the industry and commenting

Athidhi is stylish movie and Mahesh Babu is too good. Despite high technical values and superb visuals, on the whole the movie is mixed bag

I am a churi fan and i will tell you that after chiru in his primes Mahesh is like Big B.

Plus tc.com's reviews are usually good but they never give credit to the movies that are actually good.

They said pokrir is average, stalin-average, .............

the thing is they dont take a risk and say what they feel but will just say average.

The movie is GOOD. It is not pokiri or yamadonga but now a day no movie has a good script its comedy and tecnical values make it a hit.

Plus the audio is so catchy and different from the same boring tunes over and over again. theme song, Gona gona, Ratharina are all superb and can be listened to over and over again.

I will bet with you guys that the movie will become a hit.

This is a totally different movie then we usually see which is good. It is not bad and is enjoyable and please never not for this movie or any other movie just depend on websites for indian movies. They are always wrong again POKIRI. English movies they get right but telugu are always off because of the fear to say something.

(plus even english movie scripts are copies-- shooter-- athadu.

and since the public refuses to watch ant other movies but our typical storylines where are the directors suppose to come up with stories. The day we have cartoon movies, comedy movies, scary movies, romance,.... and all of these catorgories in full swing then this Industry will move foward as one. (not anytime soon so disappointed)

one more thing i have already told that if any release in SIVAPARVATHI at KUKATPALLY, HYDERABAD, that movie definetely flop. when i knew SANKARDADA ZINDABAD released in Siva Parvati i afraid but finally movie is flop. not so many every films flop in that theatre except DESA MUDURE. We have seen iron hand sofar now we see Iron Theatre. take care producers and Distributors done release your movie in that theatre.

Artists Performance

Mahesh Babu: Mahesh Babu is pretty stylish with his new hairdo. He continued same reckless characterization/mannerisms he enacted in Pokiri. He made sure that he mixed entertainment in fights in first half. There are quite a few emotional scenes in which Mahesh Babu gave perfect performance. Probably this is the first film in which Mahesh created comedy by getting drunk. He is pretty cool at it.

Others: Amrita Rao's styling/spontaneity did not suit the character and characterization. But she is good with emotions. Asish Vidyardhi managed to look funny and furious at the same time. Though he looks very weird in the film he managed to creates good laughs. Murali Sharma is pretty good and his performance in the climax is neat. Brahmanandam, Sunil and Venu Madhav are used for the comedy. Nassar, Kota, Ajay and Ravi Prakash are adequate. The child artists who donned the roles of jr. athidi, jr. amrita and heroine's sister are cute.

FINAL G V REVIEW:

First half of the film is decent as it established the characters and love track and then reveals a twist. The second half is about Athidi becoming the unsolicited bodyguard. The last 30 minutes of the film are heavy. The positive aspects of the film are Mahesh Babu and few fight sequences. The negative aspects of the film are heavy last half an hour, movie runtime and excessive violence. We have to wait and see how Telugu film lovers embrace this stylized flick.

Athidhi - Mahesh back in 'Action'

Lots of hype has worked well for Mahesh Babu’s Athidhi, as the film is a treat for all his fans. There is everything that one can expect from a Mahesh film -- plenty of well choreographed action with amazing visual effects and stunts, sentiment and of course oodles of romance. Post Sainikudu’s debacle, Mahesh plays safe sticking to the mass formula yet again in Athidhi. Only this time, he has a Bollywood import in Amrita Rao as an added attraction.

Mahesh plays the orphan in the title role taken home by Amrita’s (Amrita Rao) parents, who are later murdered by a psychopath. Athithi is implicated in the murder and sent to jail for 13 years. Once out, it becomes his mission to trace and kill Kaiser, the boy who had murdered Amrita’s parents. Obviously, the plot has lots of scope for action. The romantic element comes in the form of Amrita who is an art student in Delhi. Though the twosome meet in Delhi, the story moves to Hyderabad and it is here the rest of the story unravels.

There is a love story interwoven into the story, yet, Athidhi is essentially a revenge drama and the action scenes are the main highlight of the film. The entire look of the film is rich and the makers have spent ostensibly on sets for the song sequences. The only drawback is the climax, when Mahesh goes on a killing spree. While the makers have used special effects to make it look less gory, it nevertheless gets a bit too violent.

Mahesh is his usual best, though he seems to have ‘chubby cheeks’ in a couple of close-up shots. He looks cool with his much talked about hairstyle, where he got Bollywood stylists to do the highlights and cut for him. His clothes are quite appealing vis-à-vis Amrita’s, who appears a bit garish in some scenes. Amrita Rao is her usual, chirpy, bubbly self all along, but loses out to Mahesh when it comes to charm. She has a couple of matrix stunts, but does not quite deliver the punch!

Ashish Vidyarthi, who seems to be the flavour of the season in Tollywood, as far as the villains go, sports a Rastafarian look and is sufficiently menacing. The villain Murali Sharma, who plays Kaiser and well remembered from his role in Main Hoon Na, is good too! But a huge disappointment comes in the form of Malaika Arora. She looks tired and lacks the oomph of an item girl.

In all, the film is reminiscent of Pokiri. Yet, director Surender Reddy handles the subject well and does not let the action part overshadow the rest of the story. Music is a bit of a letdown, barring a couple of songs such as Valla valla.

Athidhi has everything that one hopes to see in a Mahesh film. Then of course, there is Mahesh himself at his irresistible best. What more can one ask for!

I just watched this movie, the story has no content. I donno what surender reddy tried to prove. Frankly, mahesh was looking better in Pokiri. He put on some weight. He need to reduce a bit concentrate on some diff kind of movies.

I've been a long-time lurker here at the forum and enjoy the discussions here and mostly OT's statistics to bring down K-clan's joy and his reviews. His reviews on Godavari and recently Happy Days are probably some of the best movie reviews I've read. He needs to get his own blog!! OT, you and FullHyd.com write the best reviews for Telugu movies. Period!

Well, after reading lot of reviews here I almost decided not to see Athidi. Our guys in VA priced the tickets at $16 to make it even more easy for us to stay home. But, I got dragged to theater by my wife and friends who are all 'Prince' fans.

I went into the theater expecting the first 15 minutes and last 40 mins to be very very boring. I didn't find first 15 mins to be bad even though it was a little slow. At least, it was shot with style to give you a feel of how the movie is going to be.

After that, the movie took off into a very stylish and unique (in telugu) action packed movie. I loved it more than any action movie I've seen in telugu. Mahesh was incredibly at his BEST and was mind blowing. Be it action, romance, or sentiment! He was amazingly good in the scene where he asks Amritha to look into his eyes and tell if she sees .....(spoiler) in him.

We didn't get interval and after long into the movie I looked at watch to see if we are into the last 40 mins yet as I was assuming it to be terrible part of the movie. To my surprise, the movie was almost into the last 20 or so minutes where our director seem to have taken side steps into Rajamouli/Gunasekar style of climax. He should have avoided knives and graphics there. It's wasn't too terrible as these things are common in our movies.

Mani sharma could have given a couple more good tracks as only 3 tracks are impressive. Fortunately, I also liked Amritha's action except for some very bad makeup in several places. She brought a very casual look to the romance which was nice.

I enjoyed all three of Surendar Reddy's movies. He could improve if he masters to compact the long fight sequences.

Mahesh was always impressive with his action in all his movies. But, after seeing Athidi where he pulled himself couple of gears forward in talent, I had to flip Venky to second position to be a 'Prince Fan' from yesterday.

I just wanted to share my 2 cents about the movie here as I know this is like the Home Ground for Prince. I heard the movie might get screenee again next week in a better theater in Reston. If that happens, I will see it again to enjoy in DTS.

Hope Prawasi will make an iDream like DVD as it should rock the Home Theaters with it's high technical values.

On the whole Brilliant movie every one must see and enjoy.

Mahesh looks too good. Even a foreigner should agree to this. But his style seems to be the same as previous movies. Mindless comedy & action adds to the irritation. It's almost a Pokiri II. Heroine without actually knowing this guy's background simply goes fida. Tooooooooo regular, can't take it any more. I don't know why telugu movies show a ruff-and-tuff, pokiri charactered guy as an ideal choice to be loved madly by heroines. Amrita is just average. It seems all she wanted was this movie offer & the fees. There are three villains. None of them utilized well. Supporting actors are always meant to help the gal & the guy come close. Same masala. Songs by Manisharma only adds to the noise.

Story is weak,Infact many loop holes in it. Mahesh charactor was not established well, not only his but rest of the charactors as well. I guess its directors fault. He is technically superb but he did concentrate well on basic things like the story (just like Rajamouli for YAMADONGA).I guess Mahesh was not used properly, upto the story's demand Mahesh not only justified but exceeded in his performance specially in comedy and expressions.

Amritha is good in action and dance. She is pretty looking through out the movie.

Coming to technicians Sameer Reddy (Camera) is out standing, Two songs are OK. Background score ia asusal like Mahesh's previous movies. And most important thing is dance, all are aware that Mahesh is a very good dancer compared to others, but I dont know why he is not trying for a new kind of dance, his dance is just like the same old style he should change the dance master.

Finally story is the culprit which lead to the down fall of the expectations. Neither a Hero is charming nor his hair style cant help the movie unless the story is GOOD.
