What's it about
Ajay (Manoj) belongs to a rich feudal lord's family in Chittore district. His father is died in faction killings, he takes oath to unite both the warring families – his uncle’s Mahendra Naidu (Ahuti Prasad) and his rival Seshadri Naidu (Jayaprakash). Meanwhile, he also falls in love with his maradalu Girija (Sheena). How this guy unites both the families with his knack forms the rest of the story.
Analysis
Bindaas is directorial debut venture of writer Veeru Potla, who penned scripts for blockbusters – Varsham and Nuvvostanante Nenoddantana. Bindaas once again affirms the fact that Veeru Potla is good writer as the movie boasts some funny moments and scenes, rib tickling dialogues. Although, the plotline is as old as Himalyas, Veeru Potla has packaged it with more comedy dialogues and situations. You laugh at them as it unfolds but on the whole the film is marred by amateurish cinematography and mediocre narration in the first half. The director has taken plenty of run time to establish the story. Only in the second half it takes the momentum and holds the interest thanks to good comedy by Brahmanandam, M S Naryana, Manoj and Raghu Babu. Second half and climax are better than the beginning of the movie.
Performances
Manoj
exudes high energy. As an actor, he has material to shine but he needs to look about his glamour part. In some scenes, he is shown in pretty ordinary way looks wise. His dialogue delivery is good though he constantly imitates his father Mohan Babu.
Sheena Shabdi, the Bollywood babe, has small and svelte figure but has indulged in heavy skin show. In other roles, it is
Brahmanandam, Mastar Bharat and
Raghu Babu shine. In fact, they have brought some good laughter on to the screen with their perfect timing.
Technically, the film underscores in every department. Cinematography by Ramesh Babu is the main culprit. Added to that, bad editing has further spoiled the show.
Veeru Polta seems to have concentrated more on dialogues, as he is basically writer than presenting the film in stylish way. Music is another weak point in the film. Except, Girija Girija song, none of them are good to hears nor on screen.
Production values are good, though.
Bottom-line
Bindaas has some funny moments, and good comedy dialogues. On the whole, it is okay and time pass flick.
