What’s it about!
Bujji (Prabhas) and Chitti (Trisha) are childhood friends. After a trivial fight, Chitti asks Bujji not to talk to him. Before separating, they promise each other to meet after 12 years and marry. Bujji is off to Chennai from Vizag and spend life there while Chitti’s family is settled in Hyderabad. 12 years later, they come to Vizag to meet but couldn’t. In a minor scuffle, Bujji is landed in jail where he meets sons of Machireddy (Kota) who ask him to kill the mafia don (Mohan Babu) for a price of Rs One Crore. Bujji lands in Hyderabad to kill Sivanna as well as to search his Chitti. The rest of the film is how he meets his long lost girlfriend.

Analysis

Bujjigaadu is typical Puri Jagannadh film with good songs, strong hero characterization and shallow script. You can say it is a very 'light' film; don't look for strong emotional content, logic or riveting screenplay or entertainment. Director Puri Jagannadh oversimplifies things and tries to play the gallery. He does the same here again. It is strictly an okay film. His films always stand out for unique characterization of the lead character and he succeeds in giving new stylish image to Prabhas getting rid of sleepy look. But story of the film is wafer-thin and goes on predictable lines. Even the screenplay is also very formulaic.

The plus points of the film are Prabhas's performance and his looks, good picturisation of songs (eye-catching on the screen) and dialogues.

Performances

After a long time, Prabhas acts very lively. He sports new style funda. His dialogue delivery and diction is perfect for the carefree attitude of his character. Prabhas also mouths Tamil dialogues very fluently. He also shows off his six-pack body removing his shirt in a scene. To be frank, Mohan Babu is wasted. His character lacks punch nor does that character has scope for Mohan Babu to show off histrionics.

Trisha looks very glam and sexy. She does very modern role. Newcomer Sanjana is a promising talent; she's cute but she has little to do in the movie. For the first time, Ali’s comedy in a Puri film fails to impress. There is not much comedy.

Songs are the film's biggest strength. Sandeep Chowta's numbers are very trendy and they are shot very stylishly. As always, Sam K Naidu’s visuals are eye-catching. His lighting in the scene when Prabhas comes to kill the Mohan Babu is fantastic. Vijayan fights are okay.

Bottom-line!

In one word, Bujjigaadu is timepass movie made in typical Puri style. Prabhas stylish looks and songs are plus points. Strictly an okay movie - just for time pass.
