What's it about!

It is the story about a set of guys and girls in Hyderabad. A street smarter Johnny who makes living out of selling false medicines on the streets, a painter Hussain who wants to be next M F Hussain and loves the gorgeous girls, s the street smart guy who sells fake-medicines and quacks on streets, a police officer called David (RK) and a local dada Gullu Bhai aspiring to be a great mafia don - are some of the characters that play major part of this film.

Analysis

FM - Fun Aur Masti is set in Hyderabad and made in its distinct language and in the ethos of the great city. Like earlier Hyderabadi movies The Angrez and Hyderabad Nawabs, it is fun film depicting the culture of Old Hyderabad (that is the other side of Musi River).

Unlike the aforementioned movies, it has slick presentation and better production values. Those who look for 'street-smart language' like in Hyderabad Nawabs might not be wholly satisfied, but FM too offers enough entertainment especially in the second half. Post the interval, the guy who played the Gullu Bhai brings down the house with his rib-tickling comedy.

Fun Aur Masti has entertaining second half but the first half is weak. Those who are well-versed with Hyderabadi language and Urdu enjoy it than the others.

Performances:

Of the cast, it is the guy who done the role of Gullu Bhai is splendid. He has good comic timing. RK has done the role of a police officer with dignity. But he doesn't have punch dialogues like he had in other films. Payal Sarkar is good looking heroine. The lead actor who played the role Johnny has also given neat performance. Satya is okay. Mumaith Khan's sizzling number adds glamour.

Technically, it has better production values than other 'Hyderabadi movies'. Cinematography catches the eye. Cinematographer should be commanded for his neat work. Dialogues are hilarious. New director Sekhar Surya does appreciable job.

Bottom-line

FM - Fun Aur Masti is good in parts. It has entertaining second half. Those who are well versed with Hyderabad lingo and the ethos would enjoy it. Though it is not as funny as Hyderabad Nawabs, FM also boasts good fun moments and offers masti in its own way.
