Those who are interested in watching tearjerkers, heavy dose of sentiment movies, then you got the right film for you. Raju Maharaju falls in the category of those heavy sentimental family movies that used to come in the 80’s. It is just the sophisticated version of those films. Looks like the film is mainly targeted to women audiences in B and C centers. Definitely it is not for everyone. The film tells about the story of a rich guy and his spoilt brother. Chakravarthy (Mohan Babu) is a rich guy and his brother Kalyan (Sharwanand) doesn’t care about anything in life. He likes to lead life enjoying all the good things. A girl Bindu (Tashu) likes him but he falls for another girl Sneha (Survin Chawla) who spurns him. One day, his car runs into a guy (Nasser) who dies on the spot. The deceased happens to be the father of Sneha. Kalyan’s brother Chakravarthy pleads the girl to withdraw the case, so the Sneha asks him to transfer all his assets on her name. Chakravarthy does it for the love of his brother. Rest of the movie is how Kalyan realizes his brother’s good-natured heart and how he transforms into a responsible guy. Mohan Babu portrays his role with ease and finesse. So does Ramayakrishna. Sharwanand gets good character although a little negative shades in the first half. But he has shown maturity in handling both the shades of his role. Heroines Tasu Kaushik looks glamorous. Comedians are okay. The movie’s story is as old as Himalayas but director Durga Shankar Nath has presented in new bottle. Bottom-line! It is strictly for those who love sentiment tearjerkers.
