So, why is this foreign city becoming the chosen location to so many moviemakers? TeluguCinema.Com asked a small-time producer about this and he revealed some interesting facts:
The government departments in Bangkok offer package deals to improve their tourism. Obtaining permissions for shooting is a very easy process. The cost of production is another important aspect of film's making. For example, if we have to can a song in Hyderabad, there are Dancers Association rules in place requiring that half the group dancers should be from Chennai. This means that we are required to pay for their accommodation and some other expenses. If we have to bring ten artistes here that way, we need to pay for fuel of ten cars! ...This rule is not reciprocative, meaning we can shoot a Tamil film song in Chennai without any dancers from Hyderabad!
There are other problems too: For example, one of our star comedians who charges 2-4 lakh rupees per day comes at 11 a.m. for regular shift shoot that starts at 8-9 a.m. Even then, he does a single scene, takes a lunch break until 2 p.m., and packs up and leaves the location by 4 p.m. Even in this little while, he takes away time to play cards. ...This is just one example. If we shoot abroad, the artistes don't have anywhere to go and thus stay at the shooting spot!
For a regular shoot in Hyderabad, 100 plus are always on the scene, but when shooting abroad, this number goes down to 40 or less. Imagine how much it'd reduce the production costs!
So, it all boils down to the current craze for Bangkok to make a Telugu film! ...That's not all, though - another recent news talks about Kannada film industry too vying on Bangkok for its shootings!
