Megastar Chiranjeevi, Amitabh Bachchan, Aishwaraya Rai, Nagarjuna, Venkatesh, Mammotty, Tamil star Vijay, Illeana, Trisha and Nayanatara and a host of bigwigs of film industry graced the 54th Filmfare Awards (South) that was held on Saturday evening (August 4th, 2007) at Hyderabad International Convention Centre.
Amidst entertaining performances by various artists that includes Sexy Simran's medley of songs act, Devi Sri Prasad and Mamata Mohandas's song and dance performance, and Guru Parabrahma song show by Malayalam actors, the event was held in grand way that saw who's who of the South Indian film industry.
But Mahesh Babu who won the Best Actor Award for Pokiri could not attend the function due to his grandmother's ill health. His wife Namratha received the award on behalf of him.
Mr Amitabh Bachchan who is shooting for Ram Gopal Varma's Sarkar Raj in Hyderabad attended the function with his son Abhishek and daughter-in-law Aishwarya Rai. He presented the best actor award to Malayalam star Mammotty for his performance in Karutha Pakshikal and also given away an 'honorary' award to Megastar Chiranjeevi. The three giant film personalities showered praises on each other and showed their bonhomie.
'Rebel' star Krishnam Raju and all-time great singer P Susheela were honored with Lifetime Achievement Awards.
