Dookudu aims for $ 3 Million

Overseas market for Telugu films especially USA market was dormant until the release of Mahesh Babu's Dookudu. Though films like Magadheera and Happy Days expanded the market there, Dookudu's success was unexpected. Generating $ 1 million for a Telugu film itself is a huge feat, which Dookudu achieved by its first week.
At the end of the fourth week,
Dookudu in USA posted an astronomical figure of $2.25 million making it highest ever grosser in Telugu. It broke Magadheera's record of $ 1.28 million (lifetime business of the movie in USA) by huge margin.
What is more, Dookudu is now inching towards the $ 3 million figure. If it really does, the movie will land in the exclusive club of Indian movies that collected more than $ 3 million in USA. So far only four Indian movies could achieve this in North America.
Indian films that collected more than $ 3 million in North America are - 3 Idiots (6.54), My Name Is Khan (4.02), Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna (3.29), Om Shanti Om (3.60).
A Telugu film generating such huge revenue is never heard of. It augurs well for the Telugu film industry and hope forthcoming movies capitalize this trend set by
Dookudu.
Dookudu was released in USA by Ficus distribution house along with 14 Reels Entertainment.
