There is a lot of confusion prevails over Shivaji’s release date and many reasons are being cited for its delay. The real scoop is that Shivaji has not yet been sold in Tamilnadu. In fact, no distributor is coming forward to buy the film. It might seem strange but no buyer is willing to buy a Rajnikant’s film in Tamilnadu! Reason is simple. The production house AVM is quoting exorbitant rates for this film that are beyond the distributor’s reach.

AVM is becoming too greedy and want to encash the euphoria and hungma surrounding the film at any cost, the distributors allege.

Their reasoning is that the asking price of AVM is illogical and makes no business sense.

For example, the money that they are asking for a Coimbatore for Shivaji is a whopping Rs 7.5 Crore. Rememeber that Rajni's Chandramukhi did collect a share of Rs 3.5 Cr in that area two years back. And at that time, in Tamilnadu there was a flexible pricing of ticket rate and Chandramukhi tickets were sold at Rs 100. But now no film can be sold more than Rs 50 with the new Government G.O.

That means they can’t even get Rs 3.5 Crores even if it becomes bigger hit than Chandramukhi. That applies to every area in Tamilnadu.

That is the reason why AVM is postponing its release no area in TN was sold off. But AVM did sell off Andhra Pradesh and Overseas rights for a whopping price making huge profits.
