Jul 17, 2008 - 11:00:35 AM

Responding to the recent concerns raised by several groups and organizations over the depiction of their caste, religion, profession and region, Regional Censor Board has imposed new rules for movies. Recently, Dalit leaders raised controversy on Kantri and Kuchipudi dancers made objections over Sunils character in Ready.

The new rules are..

  1.  Visuals and dialogues, which may directly and indirectly hint at particular caste, religion, region, profession, etc be scrupulously avoided
Should refrain from using words like Kuntoda, Guddoda, Chevitoda, Mugoda, Natti,
  2. Words like Nee yamma, Nee Abba, Naa Koduka, Donganakoduka, Dobbeyyyadam, Thokkallo, etc may be removed.
  3. Lampooning or portraying or making mockery of their caste/religious status must be avoided. Should refrain from showing physically challenged as villains and comedians and showing them in bad light.
  4. Names of characters indicating the caste/religious status should not be used. Dialect and accent of a particular region may not be used in depicting villains/comedians
  5. Professions like Police, Medical, Teaching should not be show in poor light as they would demoralize the respective professions.
  6. Extra care should be taken not to film violent scenes and objectionable scenes at places of worship. The sanctity of the place of worship should be kept in mind.
