May 24, 2011 - 3:07:30 AM
Andrea Jeremiahis a Chennai based actress and singer. She shot to fame with
Yuganiki Okkadu and she also sang the hit number
Jara Jara in NTR starrer Rakhi. This tall beauty now wants to step into Telugu films. In Hyderabad shooting for a Tamil movie, she talks to media......
Tell us about yourself ?
Born and brought up in Chennai, I graduated from Christian College. Apart from modeling I was very much into stage plays and singing for bands. I was the first model for Miranda in South India.
How did you land in films?
It just happened. Harris Jayaraj introduced me as play back singer in Gowtham Menon's
Kakha Kakha (later remade in Telugu with Venkatesh as
Gharshana). I don't know why he chose to cast me as heroine in his film. He gave me break as actress in a Tamil film (
Pachaikili Muthucharam), which helped landing in Selva's film
Yuganiki Okkadu.
You also sang a song in Telugu! Yes, Devi Sri Prasad introduced me to Telugu with
Rakhi. I sang that popular number
"Jara Jara.." Unfortunately I was not offered many songs thereafter.
So you are planning to act in Telugu films?
If I get offers I would love to take up Telugu projects. It is nice that Telugu audiences made a heroine-oriented film like
Arundhati such a huge success. It would be nice to part of this industry that encourages talent and gives platform to heroines to excel in.
Did anyone approach you after the success of
Yuganiki Okkadu?
No, not really. But I am now looking forward to work.
Current films..
Shooting for a movie with Ajith sir here in Hyderabad now.
How do you find Hyderabad city?
It is beautiful and modern city; I love the roads here. I have shot for many days for
Yuganiki Okkadu here in the city and I regularly visit the city. I like Hyderabad, but Chennai city is my first love.
Will you do glam roles?
Yes, why not. Glam show is not as bad as everyone makes it out. A director can show a lady vulgarly even if she is fully clothed. The point is to present her it in aesthetic manner.
What is your passion - singing or acting?
Obviously music comes first. Want to continue acting profession along with it.
