Nagarjuna speaks about K.D
Feb 10, 2010 - 7:22:13 AM

After his films with English titles Mass, Boss and King, now Akkineni Nagarjuna, who wields the enviable title as Yuva Samrat, is going to the marquee all over the world as K.D. The film is set for release on February 12. More than anything else, Nag is known for his penchant for encouraging the new and young blood, be it technicians and artistes.

KD is made on Kamakshi Kala Moves banner with D Sivaprasad Reddy producing it. A youngster Kiran is making his debut as director. On the eve of the films release Nag speaks about the specialties, his experiences while shooting and other facets of the venture.

Apt title set by the story

The title is fixed exactly in tune with the story. Though the title comes from the negative angle, we have no other option. It would also be wrong on the part of those who think that we go by the sentiment to use the titles with two syllables. The story is marred by thefts, gambling and car lifting. Again, we have not fixed any release date earlier. Also there is no sentiment to release the film any particular month. We only desired that the film should be entertaining and that it should entertain a large section of the audience.

Call me Ramesh or Rummy

I play the role as Ramesh. I am also called Rummy. As I play the role of a KD, my sole ambition is to earn money. I play the rummy. I gamble and lift cars. Why? What do I do with the money I earn clandestinely, yet with a lot of risk to life? This is the suspense. The story cut through Guntur, Hyderabad and to Goa. Screenplay is the lifeline of the movie. The highlights include Sandeep Chowtas music, cinematography of Sarvesh Murari and stunts of Selva master. Though the footage of Brahmanandam is not that much lengthy, he would amply tickle the audience closely following the hero. Director Kiran has a lot of talent. He could model the film in a stylish manner.

NagarjunaMamta Mohandas

Though Mamta Mohandas acted with me in King, now she is doing the prime heroine role in this time. Though we have a good number of heroines making their presence in the film, the presence of Mamta is special to the film. Thats why we selected her to do the main female lead. She showed dedication and determination for the success of her characterization and to the overall effect of the film. Similarly, all the characters did their parts to the best levels.

Remix song

Half of the success of the film goes to the audio. There are nine songs, including the bits. Dad (ANR) liked them all. We are happy that we remixed the yesteryears chartbuster Muddante Cheda in Kedi. When I was ten years old, I watched the canning of the film at Sarathi Studios while my dad danced.

Shooting in Greece As per the storyline, the subject moves from Goa to Greece. It would ever remain fresh in mind canning of superb scenes in ice. Though the country is thinly populated, nearly two lakh tourists reach there daily. When our people there felicitated me as Greek hero (Greeku Veerudu the title held by Nag in Tollywood).

About Naga Chaitanya

I am blessed to have played characters in films like Geetanjali. Without sticking myself to the stereotypes, I could play varied roles. For instance, people remember me mostly for my films Annamayya and Ramadasu. In the same format, Naga Chaitanya made an experiment with Josh. Now, we are getting extraordinary response to the audio of his next film Ye Maya Chesave with AR Rahman scoring the music. Gowtham Menons direction has generated a lot of curiosity.

My next film

My next film would be in the direction of Radha Mohan, who made his debut with the film Akasamantha. There is nothing like a hero or heroine in the film. Story and the characters are important. Prakash Raj and Dil Raju are jointly making the venture, and it would start in this month (Feb) itself.
