Venkatesh has enviable track record of delivering highest number of hits among Tollywood stars. He also delivered blockbusters during the Sankranthi festival in the past like Kalisundaam Raa (2000) and Lakshmi (2006). This Pongal, he brings us another entertainer Namo Venkatesha directed by Srinu Vytla. As the film is set for release, he talks about the movie with Telugucinema.com.
Tell us about Namo Venkatesha..
Namo Venkatesha is a breezy entertainer that has strong dosage of comedy, family values and bit of action. Right from the title, it generates a positive buzz and through out the movie you feel it - the affable comedy, soothing music, and good performances.
The title suggests like a devotional film
No, it is not devotional film. I play the role of a guy called Venkata Ramana who is devout bakta of Lord Venkateshwara. He leaves everything to the Lord and keeps chanting Namo Venkatesha and spreads positive energy. That is the reason why we selected the title and also the tagline - Be Positive is justified in similar manner.
Can you share some of the funniest scenes from the film?
Entire film is designed in funny way but the starting scenes are really hilarious. The character that I play has his own agenda and Brahmanandam has quite different agenda. Scenes between Brahmanandam and I and the conflict of their interests would amuse everyone. My dream in the film is to get 'dream girl' as he is ageing bachelor.
Your character and the storyline sounds similar to your past films like Mallishwari and Nuvvu Naku Nacchavu.
To certain extent, my character resembles to what I portrayed in those movies but it is not the Xerox copy of them nor it is extension of them. It sure reminds those characters yet deals with fresh scenes and novel thoughts.
You are teaming up with Trisha after that super hit Adavari Matalaku Arthale Verule again.
Trisha is fine actress. We had good chemistry in AMAV and we thought that people would love when proven jodi comes back again. That is why chose her and she did good job.
How do you feel when comedians like Brahmandam getting lion share in big star's films.
Nice to see that directors are lessening the burden on heroes. It's good for films and also good for industry. Whether it is Brahmanandam or any other actor getting enough footage according to script demands is healthy sign. Other than that, both Brahmanandam and I have great timing and our combination worked wonders in several films.
Tell us about your observations about director Sreenu Vytla.
Sreenu has already proven himself that he is capable of delivering big hits. Today he is big director but he also worked as an associate director in the past, so he knows my strengths as actor very well. He is also my fan.
So he portrayed me in way what my fans and general audiences expect from my films. I am happy with his work and entire project.
Even the producers are friends to us and they made this film come out smoothly.
You shot the film in exotic locations like Iceland!
Yes, the idea is my brother Suresh's as he always try to show our audiences new locations in every film. This is first Indian film to shot in exotic and interior locations of breathtaking Iceland. All the crew toiled hard to can the scenes and songs there in those extreme cold conditions. But when you see those visuals on the film, you forget all the task.
When is your next film starts!
I am taking off from shoots few days after the release of Namo Venkatesha. Then I will let you know the details of my next film.
Where would be celebrating Sankranthi?
Here in Hyderabad with all my family members. I am taking off, only after the release.
