Stars : Star Interviews : Sudhir Babu

Another star is making debut as lead hero from Superstar Krishna's family. Sudhir Babu , Mahesh Babu's brother-in-law, first appeared in Gautham Menon directed Ye Maaya Chesave as Samantha's brother, a role that won him good marks. Now, he debuts with a love story titled SMS as lead hero. As the movie is gearing for release, he talks about the movie.

Are you nephew of Superstar Krishna?

No. I am his son-in-law.

So you have turned to acting as your family members are into film business or is it by your passion?

I wanted to become an actor since my childhood. As I am brought up in Vijayawada city and did my engineering studies (B.E) there, it was natural for me to attract to the magic of movies since films are the only entertainment that one can find in Vijayawada. But it is true that it helped me to realize my dream, as I am now member of Ghattamaneni family.

Did you take any acting classes prior to your entry?

Not professional training but yes I did attend some classes. I used to do skits earlier and dance is my passion since my childhood. I used to perform at family parties and sangeet ceremonies of my friends, etc. When I wanted to enter into films, Manjula (Mahesh Babu's sister) encouraged me to do a role in her production. Thus I did the role in Ye Maaya Chesave . I got confidence from it and worked for six months in building my physique, sharpening dancing skills, and gymnastics.

What did Mahesh Babu say about your acting/performance?

He is yet to watch SMS. But like he expressed his feelings at audio launch ceremony, he keeps wondering that I did all these feats within just short span of six months.

Okay, Tell us about SMS

Like the caption says, SMS is a sweet revenge love story. I play the role of Shiva, a courier boy. Regnia plays the role of Shruthi. We constantly quarrel each other, yet love each other. The film is a slice of life drama, with characters and situations that you find in every day's life. It is a new age love story.

It is nice entertainer in which not a single scene gives you boredom. Director Tatineni Satya has proved himself that he can make the audience sit through out the movie with his earlier hit Bhimlee Kabaddi Jattu. And it has good music by Selva.

Is it remake of Tamil film?

Technically it is remake but the director Tatineni Shiva has changed the script to suit our audiences and made it altogether brand new script. So it is not completely remake but basic point and thread is taken from the original.

How did you select this film and director?

Tatineni Satya is a good friend to me. I have known him for years. He came up with this script and we approached Supergood Films. Satya may not be a good narrator when it comes to telling the script to a hero or producer, but he has total command on the sets and has narrated the movie with precision. He knows what works and what not. I am happy that I am making debut with this film.

What kind of roles you feel suit you best?

Action and dance is my forte. So I feel I do such kind of movies.

How is the support from Mahesh and other family members?

From my uncle to Manjula to Mahesh Babu, all of them are my support system. With their encouragement that I am doing this movie and both Mahesh and Manjula are also promoting the movie in their own way. I

What next?

SMS is releasing in the second week of February. Only after its release that I can announce my next movies.

Which is your favourite Mahesh Babu's movie?

Khaleja.

But audiences didn't like it?

I feel the movie suffered due to high expectations as Mahesh's movie released a gap of three years. Also fans expected the movie a Narasinhanaidu kind of high action entertainer because the film was titled Mahesh Khaleja . Otherwise, it would have been a big hit.
