Satyam was very clever in copying the tunes from other languages. He was
using Rajan-Nagendra's popular Kannada tunes in Telugu and vice versa.

I am hearing his name for the first time, but listened to his songs many
times.
What their family is doing right now, do anyone know?

so nice to see a retro piece again..with lots of info.. but a piece on
satyam garu deserves more...his glorious hand in hindustani/ghazal
adaptations in telugu and ofcourse his problems with alcohol.

getting inspired by few songs and using their tunes and ragas cleverly for
making new pallavis is acceptable. these days music directors from anu
malik, pritam to keeravani, harris jayaraj and mani sharma, all are copying
many foreign songs completely even charanams beat to beat. dsp copies his
own songs.

Satyam was ekalvays sishya of S. Rajeswar Rao and used to hang around
during sound recordings. Thank You for remebering him Satyam was not very
business like and many exploited him. He had no children. He and Rajan
nagendra were inspired by Hindi film hits but they were not blatant most of
the times. You can see Satyam as asst music director for Anjali Devi's
Hindi film Phholon ke saak. Kursindi vaana is good but based on Hindi hit
Talaash. S. D. Burman's "Khayi hai re hamne kasam sang rahaen ke " by Lata.
He requested Kishore Kumar to sing for him in Kannada. His first straight
Hindi film was Rani aur Jaani.May his soul rest in peace. I wish your
article was much more in details.prakash

Dear surfers, I am sorry I was wrong. Sathyam was not he music director of
kannada film kull agent ooo it was rajan Nagends who also made Kishore sing
a song in Kannada. Mattilo Manikyam music was by Sathyam and Sharanam nee
divys charnam by Bhanumathi became popular but it is blatant copy of song
from Amraplai Hindi Jao re Jogi tum jao re. He was skilled in lifting good
tues from Hindi film and giving hummable hits in Telugu. May his soul rest
in peace. Prakash

Dear Folks,
Satyam is really a great music director. Please by showing couple of
examples don't steal the greatness of Satyam. Music is truely matter of
inspiration. Satyam used to score the music on Dholak. So the beats of S.
D. Burman's "Khayi hai re hamne kasam sang rahaen ke " by Lata certainly
would have inspired him. How many folks in the Andhra pradesh would have
heard that song. But Kurisindi vaana is a legendary song in telugu music
industry.
Please show respect to the legends. When you listen to Satyam you feel
cherished. Same with Ramesh Naidu, Rajan-Nagendra. I know now a days Music
Directors are demi gods. But in those days songs are asset to the movie, so
the music directors are shadowed by the actors.
May your soul rest in peace SatyamJi. You made me to cry, feel romantic,
and think , we owe you a lot.

dear all.. definitely satyam master was a creator of music.. who can create
"puche pulalona", "paata padana paatame nerpana", "oh allari chupula
kavvinche", "na kosame nivunnadi" "na jeevana sandhya samayamlo", "rama
chiluka pelli kodukevare" etc..? he was a matchless original music
director.
