August 2022: Many new releases, many hopes

Although July ended on a bad note, the Telugu film industry keeps hopes for August and is optimistic about box office prospects. Half a dozen notable films will hit the theaters this month all of them are promising and have generated good buzz so far.

Bimbisara vs Sita Ramam

The first weekend will see the clash between Kalyan Ram’s fantasy drama ‘Bimbisara’ and Dulquer Salmaan, Mrunal Thakur and Rashmika Mandanna starrer ‘Sita Ramam’. The latter is a period love story directed by Hanu Raghavapudi and produced by Ashwini Dutt’s family. ‘Bimbisara’ created a buzz with its trailer which promises high-end graphics and fantasy elements. ‘Sita Ramam’ boasts big names and classy narration.

Karthikeya 2 Vs Macharla Niyojakavargam

‘Karthikeya 2’ starring Nikhil was to release last month but it got postponed for various reasons. It will now compete with Nithiin’s ‘Macharla Niyojakavargam’ on 12th August. Being a sequel to a hit film, ‘Karthikeya 2’ has many advantages. The film’s teaser won appreciation. 

On the other hand, ‘Macharla Niyojakavargam’ is Nithin’s attempt at mass action entertainer. Directed by newcomer MS Rajashekar Reddy, the film has Krithi Shetty as the heroine and Anjali in a special song.

Liger

Liger

Vijay Deverakonda’s attempt to conquer the pan-Indian audience is going in the right direction. As of now, he has generated enough buzz and hype for his boxing drama ‘Liger’. He is aggressively participating in promotions in Mumbai. ‘Liger’ has also done massive business in Telugu states as a middle-range hero. 

Directed by Puri Jagannadh, the sports drama is the biggest of them all. To be released on 25th August, it features Ananya Panday as the heroine and boxing legend Mike Tyson in a key role. 

Small films like ‘Tees Maar Khan’ and ‘Maata Raani Mounamidi’ are also planning to get a release this month.
